I have a hotmail account, when requested to enter the Incoming server. I key "pop3.live.com" with SSL on but after 30sec, the error message was "Server is not responding. Please check the server status and check whether you use SSL. (-2)" I am currently using Android operating system, with phone Sony Ericsson Xperia 10.

Does anyone know why I had this problem?

I have the same problem on my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.

When trying to connect to my company's MS ExchangeServer I get the same error-message: "Server is not responding. Please check the server status and check whether you use SSL. (-2)" I tried SSL and without SLL - no success...

Anyone succesfully configured moxier mail on Sony Ericsson Xperia X10???

I had the same problems.

Open email widget,  click account settings, choose incoming settings.

Input your username and passowrd.

POP3 Server:  pop3.live.com

Port: 995

Security type: SSL

You also need to set up incoming settings:

Input your username and passowrd.

POP3 Server:  smtp.live.com

Port: 25

Security type: TSL

Hope this helps

From Moxier's FAQ's

I have a Hotmail account and when I enter pop3.live.com it gives me an error, what should I do?

Moxier Mail uses Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 & 2007 with Exchange ActiveSync. Therefore, Moxier Mail does not support the use of Webmails or POP3.

Sometimes the answer is right under your nose.

Well then why in the world would you want this crappy app if it doesnt support normal email?!?! 99% of us arent business executives with our own emails.

Probably also worth pointing out that hotmail in general doesn't let you use any email software that is outlook. That's the nature of the beast. Want advice about hotmail? Bin it, get an email account that isn't based on closed proprietary software. And once you've got all that facts to hand, THEN start passing negative comments on 3rd party app makers. Or, even better, if you aren't an "executive" (I hear gmail allow you to use this) then ask first.

Moxier is just as crap as the other Android apps i've tried. I've just wasted a week desperately trying to get my new Xperia 10 to sync with my 2,000 contact in Outlook and my Yahoo mail. Barely managed the second but the first has proved impossible. I tried the G Phone 2 years ago and it was even worse then. Tomorrow I'm getting rid of the Xperia and going back to an iPhone which works perfectly and seemlessly with everything all the time. And the quality control around apps is far better. Recommend you all do the same and look again at Android platform again in 2-3 years when the technology and apps might be sorted out and working properly.

Hi everybody!

I'm from Mexico and i just bought an Xperia, i think this phone and Android are awesome. For every problem there's an answer and what you need to do to be able to synchronize your mail, calendar and contacts with hotmail, using moxier is to set this:

  • Server: m.hotmail.com
  • User ID: full e mail address
  • Domain: leave blank
  • SLL: on
  • SSL Certificate: accept the SSL certificate when asked

Hope could help someone.

Ciao!
