Importing Data to Moxier Wallet Using CSV (Comma Separated Value) Files

Q. Please could you let me know the data format for importing into the Web Logins type. I have many UserIDs and Passwords from a previous secure product that I want to import into Moxier Wallet. Thanks!

A1. Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry to inform you that Moxier Wallet does not support direct importing from the data file that you have. We are planning on supporting more data formats in upcoming versions. Moxier Wallet, however, can import data from a Unicode CSV (Comma Separated Value) file with data structured as follows:

  • {description},{type},{icon},{tags},{notes},{field_name_0},{field_type_(n)},{field_masking_(n)},{field_data_(n)}, ... field definition repeated ...
  • icon: index in order as seen on UI
  • field_type: 0=text,1=phone,2=url,3=email,4=address,5=number
  • field_masking: 0=off,1=XX*****,2=*****XXXX,3=*****

Special characters in field data are escaped as follows:

  • "\" to "\\"
  • "," to "\."
  • CR/LF to "\_"

If you have some experience with script languages, you may be able to develop a simple converter based on the above format. However, please note that this is not a task for an average user.

Hope this helps.

A2. Many thanks, I imported 68 records in one go! If you do document this it might be worth noting that as you edit the CSV file, you might get an error message (due to the share violation I suppose). You will need to first close the other editing program before importing.

Many thanks for your help!

Folks, it should be a lot easier than this to import data in a CSV file.  All of my info for a particular category is in a CSV file neatly sorted into columns for type, name, account number, etc.  Why do I have to go through all this and why would I have to script it?  There needs to be a conversion/import tool to map the fields in a CSV file into Moxier.  I can't recall any other application with an importing function that doesn't have a simple import tool - this is basic stuff and I'm annoyed that after subscribing to the service I can't get my critical data into the system.

I agree. Importing CSV files is a pain right now. There should be some kind of import wizard that can map the fields from the imported file to Moxier.

At the moment I cannot seem to get my information exported from my current secure password service (ANNOYING) into CSV just unreadable favorites or and unopenable HTML.  It has added to my annoyance with this at the time I purchased a few months ago HIGHLY rated password protection software that they are not making it easy to export data to import for use elsewhere. It is my data.

I already did this once testing out another service by just opening each one of my logins and saving it in the new.  I guess I will be willing to do again.

Does Moxier at least make it easy to export in CSV or some other more readable format when desired?

It's difficult to import.

I have to type one by one.

Hi, this ticket is nearly a year old and I'd like to transfer my 1Password .txt export to Moxier Wallet in order that I might then pay you the money I would otherwise pay 1Password.

Is this going to be possible anytime soon?

Thanks,

Mike

We are reviewing for additional data format supports in future update.

We seek for your understanding that we cannot give you a clear date. We will keep you updated when there is any progress on this.

Thank you!

Frustrated again.  I thought I was going to use Moxier Wallet but see there is still no simple CSV or HTML import.  I don't even understand the instructions on how to create the file above or an example of what the data in a file would look like to understand how to create the file.  Could the instructions at least be given to provide a little more detail for those of use who just understand based spreadsheet style CSV to know what my file is supposed to really look like before importing?

Can I put in a big vote for an eWallet import tool (even if from their text file export). This would swing it for me and I suspect many many disgruntled eWallet users that have been so let down by its developers.

I've tried quite a few password keepers and this ticks more boxes than any other I tried - EXCEPT for the poor import facility. Although the features advertised lists "import" as part of the functionality potential users are unaware of how useless this feature is. Even a simple sample spreadsheet that users could download with the correct characterisitics set up would be a starting point and then maybe a pointer as to where other CSV tools could be downloaded. A simple tutorial would be a nice touch! The issue was brought up 20 Months ago (April 2010) -Moxier team only appear to be bothered to take any further interest after 16 Months (August 2011);  surely this could be sorted by now.  Moxier take note - Keeper Desktop sets a great example of how an import utility tool can work!
